This is not suprising as a VPN connection is designed to direct all internet traffic trhough the VPN tunnel; since my tunnel couldn't connect it resulted in my internet traffic being The only recovery is to do the soft reset (vol-down and power button). Cellular data still didn't work. Not sure if the battery life has improved, mine is always near a charger, I use the wireless charger at work so its always sitting on it.
